Abundant moisture has been pushed into our atmosphere due to a front to our north.

Tonight & tomorrow's weather:

  • Some areas of rain/isolated storms this evening
  • Storms could get early start Monday
  • Scattered thunderstorms through day Monday

This resulted in showers and storms getting an early start this morning and continued to scatter around the region this afternoon.

There will be some areas of rain along with a few isolated storms this evening, otherwise expect mostly cloudy to partly cloudy skies overnight with lows in the mid to upper 70s.

Abundant moisture will remain in the area resulting in thunderstorms getting an early start again for Monday.

Don’t be surprised to see storms near the coast before sunrise.

Scattered thunderstorms will continue to expand across the region through the day on Monday.

Highs will be in the upper 80s to low 90s. The movement of any storms on Monday will be southward. The rain chance will be at 60 percent.

Saturday evening storm damage

Storm damage was reported in St. Petersburg, the East Bay area of Hillsborough County and in Zephyrhills, where seven mobile homes on Blanco Drive sustained damage to either their roofs or carports. No injuries were reported.

"All of sudden, this blast of wind came," said Floyd Otto, a resident of the Casa del Sol mobile home park. "It was just like being out at the ocean. You couldn't see that much, but you could hear noises."

They heavy winds ripped the carport and part of the roof off one of the mobile homes.

"The carport was gone, the roof was gone, and a lot of the aluminum was all over the place," park resident Lillian Robillard said.

In St. Petersburg, part of a tree fell on top of a car on First Avenue N and part of another tree toppled onto a carport on 39th Avenue N.

In the Gibsonton area of Hillsborough County, wind blew down a sign and a tree limb came down on a telephone pole. A home weather station at Brisa Del Mar in Apollo Beach recorded a 56 mph thunderstorm gust.

Residents in some of those areas will face a day of cleanup today.

Sunday, residents near the coast in Pinellas County woke up to thunder and lightning over the Gulf of Mexico, and an outflow boundary sent an isolated storm through Bradenton.
