Jury selection has begun in the trial a Seffner man accused of killing his wife in September 2012.

Christopher Belcher, 46, is accused of killing his 43 year-old wife, Gwendolyn, while the couple was in their home, then disposing of her body in a field near the intersection of Taylor and Pruett roads in Seffner. Her body was found in a charred vehicle.

Deputies found the couple's burned car in a nearby field days after she disappeared. Christopher Belcher was arrested two months later in Greensville, South Carolina.

Gwendolyn's family filled the courtroom for jury selection. They said they hope the community learns from her story. They said the mother of three was in an abusive relationship, and want others to know it's OK to speak up or leave if you're being hurt.

Authorities say the couple's daughter heard her mother screaming, "Chris, stop!" while the couple fought the night she disappeared.

Christopher Belcher has pleaded not guilty to the charges. The family now just hopes for justice and closure.

"I'm angry, but I'll leave it in the hands of God," Gwendolyn's stepfather Willis Everett said. "I'm going to let him handle it."
