An exhibition at Florida CraftArt, the former Florida Craftsman Gallery, invites guests into a world of puppetry.

"When I tell people I collect puppets I get the eye roll," said Greg Pellone, the Florida artist whose vast puppet collection—both his original and internationally procured pieces- was the impetus behind “World on a String: Master of Puppetry.”

Pellone doesn’t care about the eye roll. And this is his answer to the question: Why?

"It's interesting because it’s an art form that encompasses all forms of art,” said Pellone, “sculpting, painting, sewing, music, scripting, stage craft-- everything there is to do with art has to do with puppetry."

Along with Pellone’s collection, the gallery invited other Florida artists to offer their take on this art form.

Exhibition curator Christine Renc-Carter says the show is about the craftsmanship of the puppets and world history.

"It represents not only the world cultures but our heritage as well through storytelling and interpreting life through storytelling,” said Renc-Carter.

The puppet exhibition will be close August 16.
