Two people were killed Friday morning in a head-on crash on County Line Road in Mulberry.

According to the Polk County Sheriff's Office, the two-vehicle crash happened at 2:30 a.m. The crash closed County Line Road from Drane Field Road to Medulla Road until just before 8 a.m.

Deputies said 19-year-old Nicholas Dorado was driving a blue 1996 Honda Accord southbound on County Line Road when he struck the concrete median curb and lost control of the vehicle.

The Honda then crossed the grass median and entered the northbound lane of the road, into the path of a black 2005 Toyota Corolla, being driven by 33-year-old Cardee Jones of Seffner.

The cars collided nearly head-on at highway speeds. Deputies said the drivers were the only occupants in each vehicle. Both drivers died at the scene, officials said.

Deputies said both drivers were wearing seatbelts.

An investigation is ongoing.
