A pedestrian in Hyde Park was struck and seriously injured early Saturday by a hit-and-run driver who was later arrested, police said.

Jeffrey A. Guagliardo, 38, was driving a Nissas Altima east on W Platt Street around 12:20 a.m. when he got into a crash with a Honda Civic and Maseriti Quattroporte, according to Tampa police.

None of the drivers were hurt, but Guagliardo sped from the scene. The Nissan than struck Jarron A. Watkins as he was crossing W Platt Street in front of the Hyde Park Cafe, police said.

Watkins, who was thrown several feet, was transported to Tampa General Hospital in critical condition.

Guagliardo continued east on W Platt Street after striking Watkins. He was later located, arrested and charged with DUI and leaving the scene of an accident involving serious injury.
