A pedestrian was struck and injured by a deputy's patrol car Saturday night, the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office said.

Nora Reitzel, 39, was taken by ambulance to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg with non-life-threatening injuries, deputies said. She was struck by a marked cruiser driven by Deputy Edward Feidt, 22.

Investigators say Feidt was driving south on Starkey Road in the median lane around 9:15 p.m. when Reitzel emerged from a driveway access at 12650 Starkey Road and crossed the street. Feidt hit the brakes to avoid her, but the front right corner of the car struck her.

Deputies said Reitzel was not crossing in a crosswalk and alcohol appears to be a factor.
