A woman suffered life-threatening injuries when two vehicles collided in a St. Petersburg intersection early Saturday, police said.

Just before 3:30 a.m., a 2008 Nissan traveling north on 31st Street crashed into the driver's side of a 2012 Chevrolet that was headed west on 5th Avenue S. The Chevrolet slid sideways and struck a concrete light pole on the passenger's door, police said.

A passenger riding in the right front seat of the Chevrolet, Shumera Hall, 29, became trapped and had to be extricated by emergency responders. She was transported to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg with life-threatening injuries.

Both drivers - My'ya McGriff, 27, of St. Petersburg in the Nissan and Michael Walker, 47, of St. Petersburg in the Chevrolet - as well as a passenger in the Nissan, Tushawn Felton, 29, were taken to Bayfront with minor injuries, police said.

Investigators are asking that anyone who saw the crash or the events leading up to it to call 727-893-7780 and leave their name and information.
