A Plant City teenager was killed Friday night when her car crashed into a tractor-trailer on Interstate 75 in Hillsborough County.

The driver of the semi that was involved in the crash is no longer being sought, the Florida Highway Patrol said Sunday.

Around 9 a.m. p.m., Waleika D. Swingler, 17, was traveling south on I-75 near State Road 574 and ran into the back of the semi. The Ford Focus became wedged under the trailer and was dragged for 75 feet before breaking free and coming to a stop.

Swingler was pronounced dead at the scene.

Troopers said the tractor-trailer driver, Mohamed Ahmed, 34, of Nashville, Tenn., didn't realize the crash had happened and continued north until stopping at State Road 52. At that point, he contacted law enforcement officials.

Originally, the FHP asked for the public's help in identifying the tractor-trailer.
