A 46-year-old man was killed late Thursday in Thonotosassa when his motorcycle collided with a tractor trailer.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Michael Todd Dilts of Seffner was traveling westbound on his 2001 Honda motorcycle on Interstate 4 when the crash happened.
Troopers said Dilts was just west of Thonotosassa Road just before 11 p.m. when, for unknown reasons, he lost control of the motorcycle and traveled into the outside lane and collided with the side of the tractor trailer.
Dilts was ejected from the motorcycle and landed on the paved shoulder of the highway. He died at the scene of the crash.
The driver of the semi, 42-year-old Petar Solunac, was not injured.
The crash remains under investigation.
