Two people were injured Tuesday in a home invasion in Spring Hill.

Detectives say the home invasion happened at a house in the 14400 block of Middle Fairway Drive, which is located in Silverthorn, a gated community.

Investigators say a man broke into the home and attacked two women. A neighbor heard the commotion and called police.

The women were taken by air to local hospitals with serious injuries.

Russ Brander said he saw the suspect right after the attack.

"He just looked suspicious," he said. "I mean we’re on a golf course and we’re heading in and my buddy’s like, 'Why is this guy in my mom’s back yard?' So it was kind of strange."

Brander said deputies showed up shortly afterward, and he pointed him in the direction the suspect fled.

Sheriff's spokesperson Michael Terry said the suspect was caught in the median of the Suncoast Parkway.

"There was a short foot chase and one of our deputies had to scale a fence to go get him, and they actually crossed the Suncoast Parkway and they caught him in the median," he said.

Few details have been released about the victims. Witnesses say they are mother and daughter, and that the attack wasn't random.

The investigation continues.
