A St. Petersburg man was killed early Monday in a single-vehicle crash on Bryan Dairy Road in Pinellas Park.

Michael Hester, 60, was driving a Ford F150 pick-up truck on Bryan Dairy Road at 3 a.m. when he crashed into a pillar under the U.S. 19 overpass, police say.

Hester's body was burned in the resulting fiery crash, and officials said they had to work with the Pinellas County Medical Examiner's Office to positively identify the driver.

Investigators say speed appears to be a factor in the crash.

Both directions of Bryan Dairy Road were shut down under the overpass, including the U.S. 19 frontage roads. The road has since been reopened.
