A fundraiser is being held for a Hillsborough County firefighter severely injured in a traffic accident in January.

On Jan. 30, a driver struck Lt. Eric Valdes of Hillsborough County Fire Rescue while he was riding home on his motorcycle. Valdes suffered serious injuries to his right arm, hand, foot, ankle, and leg in the crash. The injuries required multiple surgeries to correct, and may require future interventions.

Because the driver who struck Valdez was uninsured, costs for the medical procedures and physical therapy to help with his recovery will be out-of-pocket expenses.

To offset these expenses, Bichler, Oliver, Longo & Fox, PLLC, a Florida-based law firm specializing in representing first responders, organized the fundraiser, which will feature a bounce house for children, food, music, and a raffle featuring autographed memorabilia.

The event takes place on Sunday, March 20 at their Westchase Commons offices at 13031 West Linebaugh Avenue.
