A frustrating situation in a Spring Hill neighborhood has residents keeping a close eye on the sky.

People are scared to go outside because of two dive-bombing hawks that have already injured several people.

Residents on the otherwise quiet Renown Way in Timber Pines are now being very careful.

"I was hit twice," said resident Al Hoelzer. "It's like getting hit over the head by a five pound sack of flour."

"You never see him," said 88 year-old resident Wallace Warren. "He comes from behind and hits you and it feels like somebody hit you with a baseball bat."

Residents say there have been at least 12 attacks over the past few months.

"You get hit with something like that and it will take you to your knees," Hoelzer added. "It will hit you with its talons and it will draw blood."

Wallace had to go to the health department once to get patched up and get a tetanus shot. Now he doesn't leave home without his pith helmet.

"Go to the mailbox, anything," he said. "I use it."

The residents realize the hawks are just protecting their nest. Last year, they paid to have the nest removed after the babies were gone, but the hawks just found another tree.

Resident George Nott has had enough.

"We are back at square one again," Nott said. "You have no defense. Absolutely no defense at all."
