Nearly a dozen people are homeless after a fire swept through a Tampa apartment building Sunday.

Flames first moved through the building in the 1900 block of Oxnard Court Sunday afternoon. Crews put that fire out but it rekindled Sunday night around 10 p.m.

There were no injuries.

Earlier in the afternoon, residents said it was a quiet afternoon until they heard noises and then saw flames.

"We been here for a such a long time, you know all the noise," said resident Lisa Simmons. "We come out through the back yard and there it was. Smoke and flames coming from the house from the back."

Simmons and other residents in the complex ran to safety as crews starting dousing the flames, which eventually shot through the roof of the building.

Four units caught fire, officials said, with at least three of the being occupied. Ten people lived in those units.

The Red Cross is assisting the 10 people displaced.

The fire remains under investigation.
