The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a Riverview man who may have cut off his electronic monitoring device.

Kevin McGruder, 21, left his home Friday at 11:45 a.m. without authorization while wearing the device, said deputies.

At approximately 12:30 p.m., deputies said the device sent out an alert indicating that it was being tampered with.

McGruder has not been seen or heard from since, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Two arrest warrants have been issued for McGruder. One was issued for escape from custody and altering and damaging an electronic transmitting device. The other is for armed kidnapping, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and carjacking with a deadly weapon.  Investigators say he has violent tendencies.

McGruder is 5’9” and 125 pounds. Investigators said he may be driving a silver 2008 GMC Yukon with a Florida tag CVMI96. The vehicle has a silver bumper across the front.

Anyone with information about where McGruder might be is asked to call the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office at (813) 247-8200 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-873-TIPS (8477).
