St. Petersburg is moving forward on an ordinance to decriminalize marijuana.
A committee is meeting to review the ordinance today.
The ordinance would decriminalize possession of less than 20 grams of marijuana.
It passed, the ordinance would make charges a misdemeanor for having a small amount of pot.
Instead, people will be fined for violating the city code, making it much like a traffic ticket.
Tampa passed a similar ordinance last month.
