The parents of a child found wandering overnight in a Pinellas County mobile home park have been found.

  • 3-year-old boy found wandering in mobile home park
  • Another homeowner called Pinellas Sheriff's Office
  • Boy family is new to the community

The 3-year-old boy father woke up Wednesday morning after 7 a.m. to find his son missing. According to the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office, the boy somehow got out of a home in the King of the Road mobile home park at 5701 Haines Road North just before 1 a.m. and walked to another home.

The owner of that home called the Sheriff's Office.

Deputies knocked on several doors in the park to find the child's parents but had not found anyone. Detectives with the Crimes Against Children Unit also were called to the scene.

Authorities also said the boy family is new in the community and that neighbors likely did not recognize the child. The boy was wearing a T-shirt and diaper and was not injured.

Deputies and child protection officials met with the father.

Officials are investigating the incident.
