Deputies are looking for a woman they say threw a dog out of a moving van in New Port Richey Friday morning.

The dog was allegedly tossed from the van near the intersection of Orchid Lake Road and Floral View Way. Officials say the dog suffered a broken pelvis.

The mixed-breed dog is now in the custody of county Animal Services.

The woman is described as a heavy-set woman who is approximately 45 years old, with blonde hair pulled back in a ponytail and glasses. The van is a white or gray minivan of unknown make or model.
