Tampa Police are searching for a 'calm' car thief who waited hours to leave a secure parking garage.

The theft happened at the Pierhouse at Channelside apartments, 1226 E Cumberland Avenue, on June 23, between 3 a.m. and 6 a.m.

Police say the suspect accessed the gated parking garage and entered the victim's unlocked Nissan Rogue. A key fob and a key were also left inside the vehicle.

Police say the suspect waited approximately two and a half hours for a resident to exit the gated area so that he could follow behind them in the stolen vehicle.

Officers recovered the stolen car three hours later in the 2700 block of 11th Avenue. The suspect is still at large.

Crime Stoppers of Tampa Bay is offering a reward of up to $3,000 for information that leads to the identification and arrest of the suspect in this case.

Anyone who wants to be eligible for a cash reward is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-873-TIPS (8477), report anonymously online at www.crimestopperstb.com or send a mobile tip using the P3 Tips mobile application, which is a free download for iPhones, iPads, and Droids.
