A massive fire tore through a two-story building at Saddlebrook Resort in Pasco County overnight.

According to Pasco County officials, the fire broke out at a dormitory at Saddlebrook's preparatory school around 2:30 a.m.

A student smelled smoke and alerted other students. The 16-unit, two-story building housed 28 students and two resident assistants. All made it out of the building safely.

The flames were brought under control quite a while after the fire broke out and the building sustained extensive damage.

Fire officials said the fire broke out in the middle of the building and quickly spread.

The students staying at the resort are between grades 8 and 12 and training to be tennis and golf professionals.

There is no word yet on what caused the fire.
