  • Both children said to be in a feral state
  • $100K bond set for Davis

Officials say officers and a Child Protection investigator responded to the scene after a neighbor reported hearing a child crying inside the apartment.

Officers found two children, a boy, 4, and a girl, 2, unattended in the apartment. They described the apartment's condition as 'deplorable,' full of rotting garbage, soiled diapers, roaches and flies.

The young children are said to be in  a "feral state," and neither speak. According to reports, the 4-year-old weighs only 26 pounds

When officers arrived at the scene they found the 2-year-old in a playpen in the living room, naked and covered in feces. The little boy was reportedly locked in a room with walls covered in feces and no bedding. He was covered in feces, urine and insects as well.

Davis was sleeping in another room. Investigators believe she left the children unattended each day while she worked at night at a fast food restaurant.

The children were transported to All Children's Hospital for assessment and treatment. Once released, the state will take custody.
