Here's what you need to know about Tampa Bay weather for the weekend:

  • Flood watch for some counties
  • Several inches of rain over the next few days
  • Highs in the low 80s

Showers and storms will become widespread in the Gulf overnight, especially west of the Nature Coast.  This rain will propagate onshore, starting with Citrus County, then south before daybreak.

Lows tonight will be in the mid 70s.

On Monday, showers and a few storms will build south and inland under cloudy skies. Afternoon temperatures will stay again below normal in the low to mid 80s.

With the expected high rainfall totals over the Nature Coast over the next few days, a Flood Watch continues for that area in effect into Tuesday.

A trough of low pressure continues to hang across the northern Gulf. Above it, an upper level low is nearly stationary. This will keep a generally south-to-southwest flow in place across the area at least through Tuesday.

The upper low will provide plenty of energy in the already warm and moist environment to allow for widespread showers and thunderstorms across mainly the Nature Coast, and scattered to numerous storms elsewhere.

This "stuck" pattern could stay possibly into Wednesday. In any case, deep tropical moisture will persist through mid-week.

This will support high rain chances through Wednesday, with periods of heavy rainfall expected along with isolated embedded thunderstorms.
