The St. Petersburg Police Department is searching for a suspect vehicle involved in a fatal hit and run Monday night.

Police said a pedestrian, for an unknown reason, was seated about 10:30 p.m. in the northbound median lane, near the double yellow lines of 49th Street North when an SUV struck the pedestrian and sped off. 

A witness saw the accident and called 911. As they were on the phone with dispatchers, a second vehicle, driven by Alma Moulton, struck the pedestrian, according to police.

Police said Moulton stayed at the scene and also called 911. 

The pedestrian was taken to Humana Northside where he was pronounced dead. 

Police are now searching for the first vehicle that struck the pedestrian. Police said the vehicle was described as a white or silver full SUV, possibly a Chevrolet Tahoe or a similar vehicle. 

The vehicle should have damage to the left front corner of the vehicle, according to police.
