A multi-agency tactical effort lead to a father and daughter being arrested for methamphetamines in Brooksville Wednesday morning.

  • Randall McConnell, 44, was arrested on several possessions charges
  • His daughter, Marissa McConnell, 23, was also arrested
  • Arrests came after year-long investigation by Hernando deputies

The Hernando County Sheriff's Office lead the raid on Randall McConnell's home, located 8050 B.W. Stevenson Road, around 10 a.m.

According to reports, the operation followed a year-long undercover investigation into McConnell.

During the investigation -- which centered around illegal drug use -- detectives say they learned of the possibility of explosive devices in McConnell's home.

Believing McConnell planned to use the weapons against law enforcement, Hernando County authorities requested assistance from the Tampa Bay Regional Bomb Squad. The squad conducted a sweep of the residence, inspecting several items that appeared suspicious. No explosives were located.

Detectives did, however, locate methamphetamine, marijuana, several firearms, and various items of drug paraphernalia.

McConnell, 44, was arrested with his daughter, Marissa McConnell, 23.

In addition to multiple drug related charges, McConnell was charged with felony possession of a firearm. His bail was set at $63,000.

Marissa was charged with possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. Her bond, considerably less, was set $3,000.
