A Beverly Hills man has been sentenced to 25 years in prison for aggravated child abuse. 

Skylar Bennett, then 22, was arrested in April 2016 on charges of injuring a 3-month-old. 

Bennett was also charged with cultivating cannabis, manufacturing of THC, possession of cannabis over 20 grams, possession of a controlled substance and possession of paraphernalia. 

Investigators discovered that Bennett beat and choked the baby until she lost consciouness. 

They think the abuse took place over several weeks, with Bennett punching and slapping the baby in the face and violenty shaking her because she wouldn't stop crying. 

The baby was flown to Shands Hospital in Gainesville on April 28 in critical condition, as a result of being choked so bad that she lost consciouness. 

Valerie Reed, then 20, was arrested on similar charges relating to the 3-month-old, including child neglect with great bodily harm and manufacturing drugs in the presence of a child and possession of cannabis with intent to distribute. 

Reed is scheduled to be sentenced in early February.
