One person was hospitalized early Friday after a fire broke out at a St. Petersburg condominium.

According to St. Pete Fire Rescue, the person was pulled from a smoke-filled second-floor condo at The Wave Condos at 3315 58th Avenue South.

The fire appears to have quickly been put out but the one person was air-lifted to Tampa General Hospital as a trauma alert.

The Fire Marshal's office is investigating the fire.

Officials said the condo's fire sprinkling system was instrumental in containing the flames to a single unit.
