Here's your Tampa area weather forecast for late Tuesday into Wednesday morning, with a look at conditions through the remainder of the week.

  • Breezy conditions continue
  • Low humidity Wednesday
  • Wetter end to week
  • Below: Watching the tropics

We had a few passing showers come through the area today. It definitely felt a little cooler and less humid with that strong east wind continuing. That breezy wind will continue into Wednesday.

The morning lows will be comfortable again, dropping into the upper 60s to low 70s.

Wednesday will feature breezy winds, keeping our highs in check in the upper 80s. There will be more sunshine and only a handful of isolated showers passing by.

Think of Wednesday as the last mainly dry day we have in a while. After that, things will change back to a wetter pattern.

Thursday will start quiet and dry, but clouds will increase quickly and a batch of rain showers will move in for the afternoon to evening. They will all have a westward movement toward the gulf.

Beyond that it looks like we stay in a wetter pattern as tropical moisture moves up from the Caribbean, along with higher humidity. A tropical storm could pass by in the gulf this weekend, but regardless of its path or intensity we will have a weekend with numerous showers and clouds.

TROPICS

We are closely monitoring a developing low in the Caribbean for potential tropical development this weekend.  A broad area of low pressure appears to have formed in the Southwest Caribbean, it is not well organized at this time but conditions appear favorable for tropical development over the next few days.

The system will move northward toward the Yucatan Channel and potentially into the Gulf of Mexico this weekend.  Regardless of development, heavy rain and gusty winds are possible over the Caribbean, Florida and the Gulf Coast region as the system moves northward.

Computer models are now being run on the low in the Caribbean and we will have a better idea of future track and intensity over the next few days.
