A 59-year-old pedestrian was hit and killed Tuesday night in Clearwater.

The victim was identified Wednesday morning as Craig Allen McKown.
The crash happened just after 7:30 p.m. on Gulf-to-Bay Boulevard just east of Belcher Road, according to the Clearwater Police Department.
Authorities said McKown was walking his bicycle from south to north along Gulf-to-Bay when he was hit by a vehicle traveling eastbound. The impact of the crash sent the bicycle into the westbound lanes.
McKown was taken to Morton Plant Hospital, where he died.
He was not crossing at a crosswalk or traffic signal, police said.
The crash remains under investigation.
