The six week renovation of the theatre has been the most extensive project since 1976. The theatre now has new paint and plaster in the lobby, and even a new concessions stand.

In the auditorium, the seats, carpet, and drapes that were installed in 1976 have been replaced with something much closer in style and colors to their original 1926 counterparts.

They also added more leg room, cup holders, bistro tables in the mezzanine, and those incredible comfy banquette seating areas in the balcony.

In the new year, they will continue to roll out restoration surprises like new arms for the lobby basement statues, restored "Vitrolite" glass tile in the bathrooms, a hand-painted new main curtain on stage, and new windows along the Florida Ave. first floor exterior.

The theatre reopens today, Dec. 22, at 6:30 p.m. with the Golden Globe nominated The Shape of Water.
