Several medical services will soon be offered at the new TGH Brandon Healthplex.

  • TGH Brandon Healthplex consists of emergency center, surgery center and more
  • Services will open in phases during spring and summer
  • Officials say the goal is to improve access to medical care

Tampa General Hospital’s first outpatient complex consists of an emergency care center, a surgery center, imaging and laboratory services, a pharmacy and a helicopter landing pad.

The emergency center, which opens Monday, is one of the several phased openings planned this spring and summer.

The four-story, 130,000-square foot complex will also have multiple primary and specialty care physicians’ offices.

“This is Tampa General’s first steps into a new world of medical care, which is to have quality medical care close to where you live,” said Mark Anderson, senior vice president for Ambulatory Services at TGH. “The goal is to improve people’s access to medical care, to make it more convenient to see a doctor or have your procedure without driving to the hospital.”

Board-certified emergency medicine physicians will be available to treat adult and pediatric patients in the emergency center, which includes 20 private beds and two resuscitation bays.

Same-day surgeries will be provided at the ambulatory surgery center, which features six operating rooms, two endoscopy rooms and 13 recovery rooms.

Two internal medicine physicians will begin seeing patients at the facility during the first week of April. An outpatient surgery center is scheduled to open in mid-April.

The outpatient imaging center provides MRIs, CT scans, X-rays, and ultrasound, which will be available in the summer.

TBH Brandon Healthplex is located at 107040 Palm River Road.
