Here's the forecast for the weekend:

  • Tropical wave moves away
  • Higher atmospheric moisture
  • Slow moving storms

The tropical wave and associated low pressure on the other side of the state in the Atlantic resulted in the showers and storms moving to our side of the state. They all have had a southwest movement.

There will still be a few lingering, but in general they will diminish with quieter conditions into the morning.

Lows will be in the mid 70s inland and upper 70s near the coast.

The low pressure off the east coast will slowly drift away from Florida on Friday and into the weekend so it will allow for more typical moisture levels in the atmosphere instead of the slightly drier air we had for the first part of Thursday.

It will also allow for a slightly quicker sea breeze to develop. That means there will likely be earlier starting storms both days that will originate along the sea breeze and slowly propagate and drift inland through the afternoon to evening hours.

Highs will be in the low to mid 90s with heat indices still above 100.

The coverage of storms will be back to about 50 percent for both Friday and Saturday.
