Here's your Tampa area weather forecast for late Wednesday into Thursday morning, with a look at conditions at the end of the work week.

  • Lighter winds
  • Better coverage of storms
  • Watching tropical waves

Skies will be partly cloudy with just an isolated chance of a shower overnight into early Thursday morning.  Lows will be in the 70s inland, but low 80s for coastal areas.

Thursday will feature more moisture back in our atmosphere along with lighter winds, which will result in a higher coverage of storms back on our side of the state.  The coverage will be back up to 50 percent.

The past few days the storms were moving eastward, ending up mostly on the other side of the state in the evenings.  With the lighter winds, you can expect a more typical pattern of storms staying in our area and meandering around through the afternoon to evening.

Highs will be in the low 90s and lows Thursday night will be in the mid to upper 70s.

Friday will be similar, with a round of slow moving storms in the 50 percent coverage range.  Highs will be in the low 90s.

TROPICS

Gert strengthened, but will not have an impact to land as it just moves into cooler north Atlantic waters the next couple days.  We’re watching three tropical waves in the Atlantic that are slowly moving west.
