A Hudson woman and her four children lived for years between her squalid, trash-strewn home and a car parked out front, and a 4-year-old child who could barely speak, deputies say.

  • Woman, kids lived in filth in Hudson, Pasco deputies say
  • Investigator: 4 kids found covered in dirt, no shoes
  • 4-year-old child was not able to form sentences, deputies say

Jamie Ann Orens, 38, was arrested just after 6 p.m. Monday. She faces child neglect charges.

According to the Pasco County Sheriff's Office, a concerned citizen called deputies to report they'd seen several children spending time in a car and living at the home on the 7500 block of Clanton Trail, which didn't have power.

Orens initially told the responding deputy that she was just there temporarily to clean up because she was being evicted but changed her story and admitted she lived there, an affidavit said.

She continued to tell the deputy that the kids hadn't eaten that day and have only had a few meals since the power was shut off at the home a week ago. The children at the home ranged in age from 4 to 17; all were filthy and had no shoes, deputies said.

The 4-year-old child was not able to form sentences and could say very few words.

The home was full of roaches, dirt, dirty clothes and trash, the responding deputy said, and some of the clothes and toys had fecal matter on them.

One child said the family had been living that way for about five years.
