The Tampa Bay Buccaneers unveiled Phase 3 of their nearly $160 million in renovations at Raymond James Stadium on Thursday. Those renovations include a new locker room, team store and completely redesigned West Stadium Club.

  • Public funds funded nearly $29 million of renovations
  • Old locker room will be home for USF Bulls Football team
  • Last phase of renovations will be announced next year

“The commitment of the Glazier family to invest nearly $130 million into renovating our iconic community asset is unprecedented,” said Hillsborough County Commissioner Ken Hagan. “This stadium ... is one of the finest NFL stadiums in the country.”

Public money funded nearly $29 million through a partnership between Hillsborough County, the City of Tampa and the Tampa Sports Authority. The new locker room features leather chairs and lockers made out of wood.

“I can’t wait for our players and our coaching staff to walk in the 18,000 square foot locker room with the enhancements and technology,” said Bucs Chief Operating Officer Brian Ford. “It’s three times larger than the old locker room.”

Tampa Sports Authority Chief Executive Officer Eric Hart said that old room will become a home for the University of South Florida’s Bulls.

“USF now has a permanent locker room within this venue,” Hart said. “That was all possible due to the team creating a new locker room.”

Fans will also experience some of the latest renovations. There’s a new team store that features more than 200,000 unique items and will stay open Thursday-through-Sunday on non-game days all year round. The West Stadium Club was also completely redesigned with new video walls and more than 200 4K TVs.

“They’re not even broadcasting in 4K but we’re ready for that when that happens,” Ford said. “This floor got extended and actually increased the overall space by 25-percent.”

West Club members will also notice a large wooden football structure that they can walk through on their way to the bar.

“We have the pirate ship in the end zone,” said Ford. “Here in the West Club, we have this big 30-foot-by-15-foot iconic football.”

The first phase of renovations kicked off in 2016 with new video scoreboards that are the third largest in the NFL. Hagan said all the renovations at Raymond James Stadium have already attracted marquee events.

“I’m pleased to say that it has already paid considerable dividends. Two major examples, the 2017 College Football Playoff National Championship and the 2021 Super Bowl,” he said. “Both of which would not have been possible without these renovations.”

Ford said construction crews were putting the finishing touches on the latest renovations in time for Saturday’s pre-season game against the Cleveland Browns. The Bucs COO said the Glaziers boosted their contribution by nearly $10 million based on feedback during the renovations.

“It keeps going up based on their commitment,” he said. “Based on their vision and taking a step back because we’re able to do it in phases.”

Ford said the last phase will be announced next year and will include renovating the upper deck and East Club.
