Here's your Tampa area weather forecast for Tuesday evening, with a look at conditions through the end of the work week.

  • Tranquil morning
  • Increasing rain chances
  • Drier air returns next week

The drier air is still having an impact but we’ve started to see a few showers back in the area. However, they’re very isolated so they won’t add any additional problems to our high river levels in the region.

Any isolated shower will go away with skies going mostly clear overnight into early Wednesday morning.

Lows will again be nice for this time of year with upper 60s in northern counties, low 70s inland, and mid 70s near the coast.

Wednesday will start sunny and dry in the morning followed by partly cloudy skies in the afternoon with a few isolated showers drifting into the area from the east. There will be more than the past few days, with the best coverage from the Bay southward.

Highs will again be in the low 90s.

Any showers will die down in the evening with clearing skies at night.

Lows will be in the low to mid 70s.

Thursday will feature a continuation of gradually increasing moisture. That will allow for a 30 percent coverage of scattered showers and a few storms in the afternoon to evening. Otherwise expect partly cloudy skies and highs in the low 90s.

Friday will be the first day in a while that we have a lot of moisture back in our atmosphere. That will lead to a 50 percent coverage of afternoon to evening scattered thunderstorms. They will tend to drift west and die down or drift into the gulf that night. Highs will be in the upper 80s.

This weekend will start with some scattered storms for Saturday but drier air will decrease the chance of rain for Sunday.

Next week looks like a return to drier and slightly less humid air due to hurricane Maria passing to our east and helping to pull drier air down on the backside into our region.

There continues to be major to minor flooding on area rivers and creeks.  Most of the rivers are trending down but the Withlacoochee River at Trilby is forecast to slowly rise through Thursday afternoon.

It remains in major flood. For the Withlacoochee River at Croom, it will rise until Friday morning and moderate flooding is expected.

The good news for people living along the rivers is that the rain chances will remain low for the next couple of days, allowing most of the rivers to continue to slowly fall this week.
