The Florida Highway Patrol said a Honda was stopped behind a school bus that stopped to pick up kids at US 301 at St. Francis, when the vehicle had a mechanical issue and stalled.
The 25-year-old male driver got out of the Honda and began to push the disabled vehicle out of the road, when troopers said a northbound dump truck, who failed to see the Honda and pedestrian, rear-ended the vehicle.
The dump truck continued forward and collided into a van that was stopped westbound on St. Francis.
Troopers said the 25-year-old driver suffered fatal injuries and died at Florida Hospital Zephyrhills. No other injuries were reported.
Northbound US 301 is partially blocked at McIntosh Road.
