A man was arrested Friday morning after authorities in Hernando County said he broke into a funeral home and stole items used in funeral preparation.

Aaron Meininger was charged with commercial burglary, grand theft and possession of burglary tools.

The incident occurred about 1:15 a.m. at Demarco Family Funeral Home on Commercial Way in Spring Hill.

According to the Hernando County Sheriff's Office, a witness saw a man going in and out of the funeral with a flashlight and crowbar. The witness called the Sheriff's Office, and deputies responded and set up a perimter.

Meininger was spotted leaving the building with a tub of formaldehyde, and he was taken into custody. His vehicle contained items taken from the funeral home, including makeup, nail polish, clippers and other items used in funeral prepartion, deputies said.

When Meininger was questioned, he told deputies he was "bored" and that he "messed up," and that he didn't know what kind of business he was breaking into.

He also told deputies he didn't have a plan for the stolen items and was "probably just going to throw them away."
