Two people were injured in an undercover gun buy involving sheriff's deputies late Tuesday in a Brandon Home Depot parking lot.

  • Male suspect in critical injuries, woman suffered minor injuries

There were no deputies injured. 

According to officials, the shooting occurred during a "gun buy" involving undercover deputies trying to get illegal weapons out of circulation. The shooting happened on east Adamo Drive around 8:30 p.m. 

Witnesses said deputies were trying to get a man and a woman out of a car when some kind of scuffle took place and the shooting occurred. 

The sheriff's office has not said whether deputies decided on the location of the gun buy or if they left it up to the man and woman selling the guns. 

The male suspect was taken to an area hospital with critical injuries. The woman suffered non-life threatening injuries. 

The case remains under investigation.
