One of the two suspects in the Cady Way Trail murders will now spend the rest of his life in prison.

Jesse Davis pleaded guilty to murdering two teenagers whose bodies were found beaten and burned earlier this year.

Davis’ mother, Patricia Hall, spoke after the court hearing.

“I think under the circumstances, it’s the only thing that they could have done,” said Hall. “It is what it is.”

Davis’s mother said this is it and no appeal is planned after a judge sentenced her son to life in prison for the brutal murders of Nick Presha and Jeremy Stewart.

When asked if she thought her son understood the sentence, Hall answered, “To an extent. I don’t even know if he can remember what details, I’m sure things are coming back into his mind. I don’t know.”

Hall said her son was failed by the system because of his battles with mental illness.

Davis is on medication again and was sometimes subdued when responding to the judge.

Davis answered “yes” to pleading guilty of all six counts related to the murders.

Presha’s father had nothing to say about the fate of his son’s killer.

Hall said there had to be more to this case.

“I think what hasn’t said, been said, you don’t want to speak ill of the dead because that’s not right and they were boys," Hall said. "But, I know there were a lot of things going on wrong out there. I don’t know what my son’s all of his involvement.”

Davis’ co-defendant, Hector Rodriguez, has yet to go on trial.

He’s also charged with murder.
