Are you sneezing and battling a sore throat? It could be more than just a summer cold.

Florida Hospital Centra Care locations reported a rise in cases of strep throat this past week.

At the Oveido location, doctors saw a 500 percent increase in positive tests for strep.

The Orange Lake Clinic in Osceola County and the Dr. Phillips location in Orange County also saw a 300 percent increase.

There was a 200 percent increase at the Lee Road location in Orange County and Mount Dora location in Lake County.

Most of the patients were kids.

Strep is easily spread, with symptoms showing up two to three days after infection.

Some symptoms include:

  • Sudden fever
  • Red sore throat
  • Headache
  • General discomfort
  • Loss of appetite or stomach ache
  • Difficulty swallowing
