Police in Winter Springs are trying to sort out what led up to a shooting at a VFW post Sunday that left two people dead and another injured.

Police said the shooting started after a group of bikers were gathering for a charity ride at VFW Post 5405, located at 420 N. Edgemon Ave.

Witnesses said bikers, wearing Warlocks colors, arrived just before gunfire broke out.

”We think it was about six other bikers pulled up. And as they pulled in the driveway, I guess I would call it a fire fight broke out,” said Bill Ferrell, who was standing in a nearby softball field with several other men.

They all ran for cover when they heard the shots.

”We have two confirmed dead one in critical condition at ORMC,” said Lt. Doug Seely, with the Winter Springs Police Department.
Orlando Regional Medical Center was put on lockdown for two hours as a precaution.

“The shooters, we are still trying to ascertain, we possibly might have one of them here in investigative detention, but again its still very preliminary, what we have going on,” Lt. Seely said in a briefing with the media earlier.

Seminole County Sheriff's deputies and Winter Springs police took several handcuffed men back into the VFW post for questioning.

John Bostic, a lifetime member of the post, said went to several charity events, but nothing like this has ever happened, referring to either biker clubs in this post or a gunfight.

“I think it's insane. Don't even understand why it happens. Cause they don't have Warlocks or any of the bad gangs and stuff, or Outlaws, they don't have those people here,” said Bostic.

Witnesses said only one biker club was involved, the Warlocks, but that there were two splinter groups within that club that came together when the fatal shooting erupted.

Police have not confirmed what motorcycle gang was responsible for the shooting.
