From her speech to her hair, first lady Michelle Obama was a popular topic on Twitter. Celebrities like Gabrielle Union, Kim Kardashian, Janelle Monae and Jamie Foxx tweeted about the convention and Michelle Obama.

Chris Rock is apparently looking for the first lady to run in 2016.

The comedian tweeted, "I'm about to vote for Michelle Obama for President. Can we get her as a write-in? This lady is moving me. We need someone to MOVE us. #DNC."

According to a blog update from the social media site, more than 3 million people posted tweets that included the hashtag "#DNC2012" on just the first night of the event, adding that it peaked at 28,003 tweets per minute during Michelle Obama's speech.

Just 4 million tweets were sent with the "#RNC2012 hashtag over the course of the whole 3-day event, Twitter wrote.

Actress Eva Longoria sent out twitpics from inside the Time Warner Cable Arena in Charlotte. The activist snapped a picture with the Castro twin brothers.

San Antonio Mayor Julian Castro gave the convention's keynote address on Tuesday.

However, not all the celebrities were impressed by day one of the convention.

Game show host Chuck Woolery sent out a few tweets.

"Notice there is no debt clock on the wall of the DNC?"

Woolery attended the Republican National Convention in Tampa. The Republicans put two debt clocks up at the Tampa Bay Times Forum, demonstrating what they see as America’s spiral deeper into debt. One clock showed the country's actual debt. The second showed the debt incurred during the course of the convention.

The candidates were also on social media looking to sway voters.

"Individuals can go on Facebook pages. They can go on Twitter account. They can follow their blogs to get insight on their policies," said Internet marketing consultant Darien Hill.

Also, one special interest group is paying big bucks to get their message across.

The hashtag "#failingagenda" was trending. That hashtag was sponsored by The Americans for Prosperity.

They call themselves an advocate for economic independence. The group is asking people to tweet some of President Barack Obama's failed policies.

However, some of the President’s supporters were not happy with the sponsored hashtag and instead began tweeting Romney's "failed agenda" items.
