Drivers on Interstate 95 look sharp and see if you notice what’s wrong with one road sign.

New road signs dot I-95 in Brevard County as part of the nearly complete lane widening project near the Beachline.

The signs instruct drivers where to turn depending on where they want to go.

A sign at the two mile away point gives directions for Orlando or Port Canaveral -- head west to Orlando on 528, or go east towards Port Canaveral.

But take a closer look and you might see what’s wrong with it.

The "Canavarel" in Port Canaveral is misspelled with the 'e' and 'a' reversed.

“That needs to be fixed. Even people who aren't from here should know that's not spelled correctly,” said Cape Canaveral resident Rachel Tally.

The state Department of Transportation said they aren't sure how the misspelling happened, but that somewhere along the way the letters were transposed.

The plans, they said, had the correct spelling.

The FDOT said it's up to the contractor for the road project, not taxpayers, to fix the sign.

A new sign would cost about $4,000, but a simple fix will likely run about $300 once it is sent back to the manufacturer.

For locals, the sign was something to talk about with a little space humor to boot.

“If we can get a man on the moon, we can fix that!” said Cape Canaveral resident Matt Adams.

FDOT said workers will cover up the sign for now.

There is no word on how long it will take to fix.
