A Florida Highway Patrol motorcycle trooper was taken to the hospital after being struck by a car while transporting trooper Chelsea Richard's body Monday.

It happened around noon at the intersection of U.S. Highway 27 and County Road 466, in Lake County.

FHP said a procession with approximately 10 motorcyclists was escorting Richard's body to a funeral home when another motorist failed to yield, hitting the male trooper.

The trooper suffered minor injuries and was taken to The Villages Regional Hospital, according to FHP.

Richard was killed Saturday, May 3, when she was hit by a pickup truck as she worked another crash on I-75, in Marion County.

John Duggan, a tow truck driver, and George Robert Phillips, who was also at the accident scene, were also killed in Saturday's crash.
