Kim Honaker, a language arts teacher at Apopka Memorial Middle School, stood before a judge Wednesday morning.

Honaker was arrested for a second time this week.

She was originally charged with child neglect, but now Honaker is accused of actually taking part in sex acts with a 13 year old girl.

And investigators say she committed those acts while her friend, Robert Pruitt, was also having sex withe the teen girl.

Pruitt is accused of having sex with the teen girl multiple times at Kim Honaker’s home, where he lived.

Wednesday Pruitt’s public defender suggested the 59 year old might not be mentally coherent.

“I’m not sure Mr. Pruitt fully understands what’s going on right now,” said Pruitt’s appointed public defender.

But after answering a series of questions, the judge moved forward, and denied Pruitt bond.

Robert Pruitt tells investigators that while dating Kim Honaker, he talked to the 13 year old victim online and developed feelings for the girl.

According to a police report, Pruitt tells investigators he told Honaker about those feelings, saying quote, “Even after I told her that I was having the sexual fantasy, she encouraged it.”

The judge also denied bond for Kim Honaker.

Honaker has been with Orange County Public Schools since 1997, but she is now relieved of her duty with pay, pending a school board decision on her employment.

That decision is expected to come at the school board’s next meeting.

Investigators will not say how Honaker or Pruitt know the 13 year old victim.

But they do say they believe the girl is the only victim in this case.

Kim Honaker’s two children, who were living with her, have been placed in DCF custody.

According to police, Honaker bonded out of jail just after 4 p.m. Thursday.
