Florida Power & Light hopes to decrease customer electric rates in 2015.

FPL said the average 1,000 kilowatt-hour residential bill would fall nearly $2 a month starting in January. Business customer bills would also see a roughly 1 percent decrease.

FPL said the average bill is already lower than it was in 2009. The drop is largely due to savings in fuel costs.

FPL's rate drop must be approved by the Public Services Commission before it can go into effect.
