Universal Orlando Resort has raised its admission prices, with a single-day, single-park pass now topping the $100 mark just days after the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World became the first theme park in America to pass that milestone.

As posted on Universal Orlando's website Thursday, one-day adult admission to a single park is now $102 for both Florida residents and out-of-state visitors. That's a $6 increase from last year's price of $96.

Single-day, single-park admission for children now costs $97.

One-day admission to both Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure now costs $147, up $11 from $136 last year.

The value at Universal, like at most theme parks, lies in its multi-day and annual passes.

The online price for two days at both parks is $194.99, or $97.49 per day. For a four-day, park-to-park ticket, the price is $214.99, or just $53.75 per day.

The cost of an annual pass for Florida residents starts at $189, with a Preferred Annual Pass with no blackout dates costing $259.

"We continue to create incredible, new entertainment experiences across our entire destination. We set our prices to reflect the value of the experience we provide our guests," said Universal Orlando spokesman Tom Schroder. "We also work to provide the greatest value where our guests tell us it matters — with our popular multi-day tickets and vacation packages, where we have options as low as $53.75 per day. And we work throughout the year to provide special offers to Florida residents, including discounts on our annual passes."

True to form among Orlando's theme parks, when one park raises its admission prices, the others are usually quick to follow. It was five days between Walt Disney World's increase and Universal's. On Sunday, adult admission the Magic Kingdom rose to $105, while tickets to Epcot, Disney's Hollywood Studios or Disney's Animal Kingdom increased to $97.

As the pattern usually goes, SeaWorld and Busch Gardens will likely be next, but as of Thursday morning, prices were still listed at $95 for each park. That price, however, also includes a free visit to Aquatica with a SeaWorld ticket, and to Adventure Island with a Busch Gardens ticket.
