The latest numbers show a slight increase in Florida's unemployment rate, which now stands at 5.7 percent for May.

The April rate was 5.6 percent.

There were 545,000 jobless Floridians out of a labor force of 9,614,000. The U.S. unemployment rate was 5.5 percent in May.

Florida's unemployment rate has been less than or equal to the national rate for 23 of the last 30 months.

Sumter County has the state's fourth highest unemployment rate, at 7.5 percent. Seminole County's jobless rate of 4.9 percent is one of the lowest in the state.

Unemployment rates rose in 25 U.S. states last month.
