A new memorial to the victims of the Pulse nightclub shooting will travel across the country after it’s displayed in Orlando.

  • New Pulse memorial planned to honor victims
  • Memorial would be displayed in Orlando before traveling US
  • First responders would also be included in memorial

Organizers of the Orlando Traveling Memorial met Wednesday to discuss plans with Pulse survivors and families of the victims.

The memorial will be on display for a year in the front of the Sam Flax art store on Colonial Drive.

It will then travel to other cities in the U.S.

“And then we thought, since it’s moveable, we’ll move it throughout the country for a remembrance of these people for years and years,” said Colleen Ardaman, chief artist and visionary for Orlando Traveling Memorial.

Artists will work with the victims’ families to help paint their loved ones’ faces on the mural.

Daphne Josaphat’s nephew, Jason Benjamin Josaphat, died in the Pulse shooting.

“And with this, I hope I find myself healing,” Josaphat said. “It’s hard to grieve.”

Organizers are also working with first responders. Their handprints will be part of the memorial.

An exact date for when the memorial will go on display has not been announced.

Organizers of the Orlando Traveling Memorial say they won’t be able to build and display the memorial until they've raised enough money, which could take months.
