Disney will revive The Wonderful World of Disney this fall with a live “Little Mermaid” musical.

The two-hour special will premiere Oct. 3 on ABC.
For “The Little Mermaid Live!,” producers will combine the 1989 animated film with live musical performances using “cutting-edge technology.”
The special will feature songs from Alan Menken, including favorites like “Under the Sea” and “Poor Unfortunate Souls.”
Hamish Hamilton, Ian Stewart, David Jammy, Katy Mullan and Richard Kraft will produce.
There’s no word on casting for the ABC version of “The Little Mermaid.”
The news comes after Fox announced plans for live productions of “Rent” and “A Christmas Story.” The network previously did a live production of “Grease.”
NBC will take on “Jesus Christ Superstar” next Easter.
